My Strength Comes From Within 

Doctors discovered my special gift while in "MaMa's" tummy. I felt my "MaMa's" and "PaPa's" concern and worry but most of all, I felt their LOVE and determination. I already knew that my life would require courage, strength, and love to shine! I was ready and reminded my parents that I knew what I had to do to fight this gifted disease. Soon after, I felt their hearts at peace, and they both became focused on keeping me healthy and strong. "Ma-Ma" and "Pa-Pa," wrote me letters, read me books, spoke to me about my strength, and loved me wholeheartedly. 

My heart grew stronger every day while in Ma-Ma's tummy. At 40 weeks gestation, I made a choice, and on September 5th, 2019, my courage and love for the world were ready to shine brightly, and "Ma-Ma" and "Pa-Pa" gave birth to me early that afternoon. 

The real battle began early in the morning on September 6th, 2019 when my heart went in for its first surgery.

Surgeons opened my heart and transformed it into a healthier heart. I knew that this would not be the last surgery and would have to continue my battle one more time! I was ready, and so were "Ma-Ma" and "Pa-Pa."

My life would require even more determination and protection; COVID-19 had arrived in our community. "Papa" put on his game face and "Ma-Ma" her strength to ensure that my environment was the cleanest, healthiest, and safest place for me to flourish. During this time, I got to call myself a "BIG Brother," and on October 20th, 2020, Aakash was born. He is such a loving, warm, and peaceful energy that my parents needed since my care required additional focus. We became the perfect Kamal team. 

On the morning of August 14th, 2021, the battle began again, and doctors reopened my heart and made it twice as strong. "Ma-Ma" and "Pa-Pa" were lasered focused and loved me every second of every day; even when times got tough, they reminded me of my incredible strength and courage. Meanwhile, Aakash and all four of his grandparents cared for each other to prepare for my victorious return home. Both surgeries were a success, and I did an excellent job healing myself both times. I AM living my best life alongside my silly brother. We are now both blessed with calling ourselves BIG brothers and expecting our sibling to arrive in February 2024.
